breaking news - drag queen olympics cancelled
28/July/2010
The
2010 Drag Queen Olympics in Amsterdam have been cancelled at the
last minute, and moved to the Spanish capital, Madrid. A
devastated Miss Jennifer Hopelezz, who was behind the Dutch bid to
hold the Games for the seventh time in Amsterdam, explains. "We
were having a lot of problems with the finances ans organization here
due to the global financial crisis. And then our main sponsor BP
pulled out with some weak excuse about an oil leak or something like
that in Mexico. Frankly speaking I didn't really buy it, I mean
seriously how big a problem could that be? In any case, the Spanish saw
their chance and swooped, literally in the last minutes of
negotiations, and took the Games to Madrid." As a consolation for
their Dutch fans, the Drag kings of Amsterdam have invited the girls to
attend the drag King Betty contest, Wednesday 4th August from 08.30
onwards on the Reguliersdwarsstraat.
